We awoke to high winds but no rain on our Centenary walk day. Once at Promiseland we decided not to put any wet weather tents up as it proved difficult enough putting 4 extra lats up in the wind. A small team of guiders set about putting up bunting and preparing refreshments and waited for the walkers to arrive. Arrive they certainly did in their hundreds, which gave Anne and her team a wonderful welcome. It became a sea of activity with a whole range of games and space hopper horses, go carts and circus skill items to keep the children busy after their packed lunch had been eaten. Tina Wing took lots of photos and attached are just just 2.

Just some of the welcoming party
At around 2pm the groups began to wend their way back across the fields to Wickford station to their eventual destinations with a quiz on the back of the marker posts to make the walk interesting. One lucky group had a barbeque at their leaders house with lots of marshmallows before going home. All in all a wonderful day in spite of some wind and very well done to everyone that stepped out with their best foot forward. Thank you to all the leaders that gave up their Saturday to make it an overwhelming success.
